Sangha Parivar is destroying the Hindu civilization.
What has happened is a shame; the Christians in the past had made contribution to the development of modern Kannada. Rev Kittel who composed the first Kannada dictionary was one of our revered ancestors. The Christians continue to run hospital and schools. Most of the gentle and caring nurses in hospitals are Christians.
What is happening now is a cynical move on the part of the government in power. Our CM had said that he will make Karnataka another Gujerath. His ideal seems to be Modi, for Sri Yedyurappa once a leader of the poor peasants in my home district Shimoga now speaks of Modi style development. The BJP knows that they cant get the Christian minority votes in Mangalore and Udupi, as they are trditional supporters of the Congress. By attacking Christians now they can make a solid Hindu vote Bank. This is most cynical.
Raising the question of 'forced conversions' for justifying the attacks on Christians is irresposible on the part of Govt who should protect Law and Order. Who converts to Christianity? Mostly those who come from low castes and feel ashamed to reveal who they are and what caste they belong to. Christianity gives them a respectable identity and they may be tempted also with jobs and money. If we had a great saint like Narayana Guru of Kerala born into a low caste who took to reforming the decadent Hindu society there would have been no room for Christians to convert the low born Hindus. Narayana Guru was an advaitin, perhaps the greatest advaitin after the Adi Shankaracharya.
Attacking people who are praying to whatever God is the most irreligious act on the part of the Hindus. The Sangha Parivar is destroying the Hindu civilization.
The way out now is for the Civilian Society to raise its voice. The police are under the BJP Government who seem to have turned a blind eye. They may not be openly supporting the attacks of the Sangha Parivar but there seems to be a
tacit understanding between the two. The Gujerath drama of violence is being reenacted here.
As a kannada writer I feel ashamed and angry and feel helpless too

ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಾತುಗಳ ಹಿಂದಿರುವ ಕಳಕಳಿ ಅರ್ಥವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದರೆ ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ನಾವು ಕಾಣುತ್ತಿರುವ ಸಮೂಹಸನ್ನಿಗೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ತಾತ್ವಿಕ, ಮಾನವೀಯ ಮುಖಗಳು ಅರ್ಥವಾಗುವ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯೇ ಇಲ್ಲವಾಗಿದೆ. ನನ್ನದೇ ಕಛೇರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದುಡಿಯುತ್ತಿರುವ ಅನೇಕ ಸಹೋದ್ಯೋಗಿ ಕ್ರಿಶ್ಚಿಯನ್ನರ ಮಾತುಗಳಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮವಾದ ನೋವು, ಅಪಮಾನಿತ ಭಾವ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ತಲೆತಗ್ಗಿಸುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದೆ. ಇದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಪ್ರತಿಭಟನೆ, ಅಭಿವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ ಅಗತ್ಯವೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಹಾಗೆ ನೋಡಿದರೆ ಇವರೆಂದೂ ತಮ್ಮ ಧರ್ಮದ ಹಿರಿಮೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ, ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠತೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ನಮಗೆ ಕೊರೆದವರಲ್ಲ, ಅಂಥದ್ದನ್ನು ನಾವು ಅನೇಕ ಸಲ ಇವರೆದುರು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರೂ. ತಮ್ಮಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ತಾವು, ತಮ್ಮ ಚರ್ಚಿಗೆ ನಿಷ್ಠರಾಗಿ ಇವರೆಲ್ಲ ಅವರ ಧರ್ಮದ ರೀತಿ ರಿವಾಜು ಪಾಲಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದವರು. ಎಲ್ಲ ಬಗೆಯಲ್ಲೂ ನಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗೆ ಒಂದಾಗಿ ಇದ್ದವರು. ನಮ್ಮ ಹಬ್ಬ, ಹರಿದಿನಗಳ ಪ್ರಸಾದ, ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡವರು. ಈಗ ಇವರನ್ನು ಹೇಗೆ ಎದುರಿಸಲಿ? ಚರ್ಚಿನ ಹೊರಗಡೆ ಸಾಲಾಗಿ ನಿಂತು ಹೊರಬರುತ್ತಿರುವವರಿಗೆ ಎರಡೂ ಕಡೆಯಿಂದ ಲಾಠಿ ಬೀಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಪೋಲೀಸರನ್ನು ಟಿವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರಲ್ಲ, ಇದನ್ನು ಕ್ರಿಶ್ಚಿಯನ್ನರು ಮರೆಯಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾದೀತೆ?
ಎಲ್ಲೋ ಕೆಲವು ಮತಾಂತರಿಗಳಿರಬಹುದು, ಇಲ್ಲವೇ ಇಲ್ಲ ಎನ್ನುವಂತಿಲ್ಲ, ನಿಜ. ಉದಾಹರಣೆಗೆ, ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲೂ ಕಂದಾಚಾರಿಗಳಿಲ್ಲವೆ? ಹಾಗಂತ ಎಲ್ಲ ಹಿಂದೂಗಳೂ ಕಂದಾಚಾರಿಗಳೆಂದೋ, ನಮ್ಮ ಹಲ್ಲೆ ಕಂದಾಚಾರಿಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಮಾತ್ರವೆಂದೋ ಯಾವುದಾದರೂ ಭೂತ,ದೈವದ ಗುಡಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಈ ರೀತಿ ಧಾಳಿ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಹಿಂದೂಗಳು ಸುಮ್ಮನಿರುತ್ತಾರೆಯೆ? ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ನಾಗದರ್ಶನಕ್ಕೆ, ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ ಕೇಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹಿಂದಿನಿಂದಲೂ ಮುಸ್ಲಿಮರು, ಕ್ರಿಶ್ಚಿಯನ್ನರು ಕೂಡ ಬರುತ್ತಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಎಲ್ಲೋ ನೆರೆಹೊರೆಯ ಹಿಂದೂಗಳೇ ಅವರ ಕಷ್ಟ ನೋಡಲಾರದೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ಇಂಥವರ ಬಳಿ ಮೊದಲ ಬಾರಿಗೆ ಕರೆತಂದಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅದನ್ನೂ ಮತಾಂತರ ಯತ್ನ ಎನ್ನಬಹುದೆ? ಶಾಂತಿಯುತ ಸಹಬಾಳ್ವೆಯನ್ನು ಸಂಘಜೀವಿಯಾದ ಮನುಷ್ಯನೇ ಸಹಿಸದ ಒಂದು ಸ್ಥಿತಿ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣವಾಗಿರುವುದು ಕೆಲವು ಲಾಭಬಡುಕರ ಸ್ವಾರ್ಥದಿಂದಲೇ ಹೊರತು ಇನ್ನೇನಲ್ಲ.
ಕೆಲವೇ ಕೆಲವು ಕಂದಾಚಾರಿ ಮತಾಂತರಿಗಳ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಕ್ರಿಶ್ಚಿಯನ್ನರನ್ನು ಕೆರಳಿಸಿದ್ದು, ಮತಾಂತರ ನಿಷೇಧ ಕಾಯದೆಯನ್ನು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಂಡಿಸಲು ವೇದಿಕೆ ಸಜ್ಜುಗೊಳಿಸಿದ್ದು, ಹೇಯ ರಾಜಕಾರಣ. ಭಜರಂಗದಳದವರು ತುಂಬ ಯೋಜಿತ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುವವರು. ಅವರು ಯಾವಾಗ ಪ್ರವೋಕ್ ಮಾಡಲು ಏನೇನೋ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೋ ಆಗ ಪ್ರವೋಕ್ ಆಗದಿರುವುದೇ ಅವರನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸಬಹುದಾದ ಸರಿಯಾದ ವಿಧಾನ. ಆದರೆ ಅದು ಅಸಾಧ್ಯ ಎಂಬ ಮಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಸಮೂಹಸನ್ನಿ ಸಾಂಕ್ರಾಮಿಕವಾಗಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟಿದೆ.

Yes, who are the people preaching that one can be converted from hinduism? They need to understand the stupidity of the statement they are making.
First of all, people wont understand the boundaries of the practice, which is called Hinduism. It is just a practice, and has the flexibility to add anything into it. For an example, if you want to add a new god, you can, or if one wants to oppose the conept of god (nastika), he can. In this case how can a person beleiveing in Cristianity is not a Hindu?
The second thing is, if one feels that people are being taken away from Hinduism, what is the problem? Who are you to claim the responsibility of the people who once said to beleive in your religion? An indipendent India meant Indipendence in religion also.
There is a need for all to act. How can one idendtify himself as a progressive indian, if he/she doesn't come out of the shell they (we all) are in. Let the people live the way they want, unless they harm your livelyhood, with a bad intension.
